An Italian residence permit based on the 'Employment' motive can be issued for a certain period to persons intending to work under an employment contract in Italy.
Residence permit "Employment" is usually issued for: - seasonal workers, - housekeepers, - highly qualified personnel, - managers, - university teachers, - employees doing an internship, - translators, - orderlies, - people working in the entertainment industry.
Advantages of obtaining a residence permit in Italy through the 'lavoro subordinato':
1. Simple registration procedure. The employer completes the request independently. There is no need to queue. The whole procedure is done online.
2. Period of validity of the Permesso di soggiorno. Validity of Residence Permit on first registration is from1 to 2 years (for non-seasonal workers). Further conversion or prolongation is possible!
3. Quotas are published annually. The Decree on the availability of the quotas is published by the Italian Government, according to which a certain number of visas are allocated for seasonal and off-season work.

On 04/14/2019, a Decree (Decreto) was published in the Gazzetta ufficiale, according to which the government allocates 30,850 quotas(maximum number of residence permits to be issued) for seasonal and off-season work. Quotas for foreigners wishing to receive residence permit for 'lavoro subordinato' and 'lavoro autonomo' motives are allocated in limited quantities every year.
